6WIND, a provider of scalable, high-performance, low-latency networking software optimized for cost-effective hardware based on multicore processors, recently successfully completed additional telecom platform deployments in LTE (News - Alert) networks, further strengthening its footprint as a supplier of high-performance networking software for LTE infrastructure worldwide.
With these telecom platform deployments, 6WINDGate Mobile Edition software, which delivers sustainable competitive advantages to network operators, service providers, system integrators and network equipment providers, now serves 80 percent of LTE users in Japan. The software is currently deployed in major LTE commercial networks in Asia, Europe and North America.
The 6WINDGate software enables TEMs to maximize network performance, ensuring unlimited scalability across blades or racks, and accelerates advanced networking features such as policy enforcement and security.
“Our advanced technology and the widespread adoption of the 6WINDGate Mobile Edition Software led to 6WIND receiving the 4GWE Wireless LTE Visionary Award from Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC (News - Alert)) in late 2010,” said Eric Carmès, CEO of 6WIND, in a statement.
“With 224 operators worldwide committed to launch LTE service in addition to the 54 networks active at the end of 2011, according to Maravedis (News - Alert), we expect deployments of 6WINDGate to increase significantly during the next few quarters,” Carmès added.
6WIND’s telecom platform deployment partner ecosystem comprises suppliers of board-level products, processor platforms, operating systems and middleware. This partner ecosystem is a huge benefit to OEMs who look to minimize time-to-market and development risk for new, complex networking products.
The partner ecosystem comprises major telecom platform deployment solutions providers including Advantech’s Networks & Communications Group, Broadcom (News - Alert), Cavium, Metaswitch Networks, Qosmos, Radisys, Texas Instruments (News - Alert), and RedHat.
Recently, 6WIND also introduced its cloud edition version to apply its proven, unique technology to address critical performance and scalability challenges faced by cloud infrastructure providers. 6WINDGate Cloud Edition is already being adopted by suppliers of both physical and virtual networking appliances in data center applications.
