Mavenir Systems Chooses NEI to Simplify its Migration to the Sandy Bridge Telecom Platform

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

As telecom platform deployment continues to increase in complexity, companies like NEI are being selected by a wide variety of companies who wish to utilize their vast expertise in order to enhance their deployment capabilities, while simultaneously increasing efficiency and cutting costs.

In fact, the recently released, next-generation Sandy Bridge processor (the Xeon E5-2600 family) is a major factor behind the wide growth of this space, as the solution can help raise core speed by up to 17 percent when compared to previous Intel (News - Alert) models. NEI’s platform, created from the ground up to support this new iteration of Sandy Bridge, was developed with the intention of dramatically increasing security functionality found within on-premise and virtual appliance solutions alike.

Some of the most vital benefits of this telecom platform deployment offering include increased CPU processing, memory and I/O performance, as well as eliminating bottlenecks for apps that mandate real-time data rates.

Today, Mavenir Systems (News - Alert), a mobile infrastructure solutions provider for LTE operators, revealed it has teamed with NEI with the goal of making it easier to seamlessly integrate its Intel Xeon processor E5-2400 product family into its mOne Convergence Platform.

Touted as an extremely scalable, carrier-grade software solution, the Mavenir mOne Convergence Platform leverages AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) (ATCA) hardware, increasing nodal capacity by nearly 30 to 60 percent. The platform is being tapped by various mobile service providers to power voice, video and messaging across existing networks, assisting them in achieving higher levels of revenue while simultaneously slashing network costs and driving customer satisfaction.

“NEI helped us to leverage the very best in new technology while driving down the barriers to integration, including solution design and system integration, as well as regulatory testing and international trade compliance,” said Terry McCabe, CTO at Mavenir. “NEI’s deep integration expertise helped in transitioning the mOne Convergence Platform to the new E5-2400 product family in a matter of weeks.”

Further, with access to NEI’s hardware, Mavenir was able to reduce time-to-market with its robust product that now includes the latest Intel microprocessor technology.

“Mavenir is a long-standing customer of NEI’s due to our very successful history of providing appliance technology, products and services tailored to the entire lifecycle of the company’s applications,” added Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at NEI. “We believe that the new Sandy Bridge microarchitecture has tremendous potential, and we are pleased to help early adopter customers such as Mavenir gain a competitive edge by delivering continuous improvements in performance, energy efficiency, security and scalability.”
