Avvasi Continues to Lead in Telecom Platform Deployment Solutions

More than a decade ago, images of Tokyo’s downtown with the first several floors of the high-rise buildings adorned with massive video screens, projecting images to the masses were the pictures of the future. The future has arrived. Walk into any Burger King in America today and one will see the menu being taken over intermittently with bright and brash video screens that promote new products and old standards.
According to this Wireless Week (News - Alert) report, out of home video is booming, from mobile devices to static displays, and new telecom platform deployment methods are being used to keep that video quality at consumers’ expectations.
Video is also being used in retail stores like Wal-Mart to direct customers to deals of the day. It’s not unlike a high-tech version of K-mart’s blue light special. Convenience stores are also taking notice and developing video platforms of their own to direct the attention of buyers to more products. Video has even made it to the gas island where filling a tank of gas is now accompanied by video promotions on a monitor between the sale and gallon meter.
These video and telecom platform deployment projects are massive. Take, for instance, the presentation that 7-Eleven has rolled out – the nationwide campaign to deploy these screens across the country. The broadcast TV network will be among the top five largest in the country, capable of reaching more than 200 million viewers per month. Some inside the industry believe networks such as these are game changers and that they could create a merchandising television standard.
Avvasi, a company that enables QoE-driven measurements, has been far ahead of others in the industry since 2008 in recognizing the role that video plays in today’s market. The company is proving its dominance again with a system network that operators can utilize to fine tune the quality of their video.
LTE (News - Alert) network operators are the focal point of Avvasi’s latest offering, which is a Q-SRV video service gateway. The new gateway is an extension of a solution already being utilized by Tier 1 operators to measure video quality. Now, operators can manage subscriber video quality more actively and improve upon it.
As an Avvasi representative said recently, operators know they have to improve their services to keep up with subscribers’ expectations in video experience. Avvasi has been a big part of helping clients monetize OTT video with Q-SRV. Using the Xperium platform and ATCA-based chassis, Avvasi is bringing a flexible and scalable solution to the market that is making it clients’ money as they experience an explosion in video traffic.
