Artel Simplifies Video Transport for Broadcasting and Telecom Platform Deployments

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Artel Video Systems, a provider of video transport solutions for broadcasting, CATV and telecom platform deployment applications, has just unveiled a new video transport and processing chassis that can route video and Ethernet traffic in native format through a unique internal cross point.

The new DigiLink DL4360x video transport chassis is unique as it integrates video and Ethernet routing and trunking into one platform. This seamless integration helps the device eliminate external cross connects while staying in native video or Ethernet format.

The immediate benefit of this video transport chassis is that video content providers, broadcasters and telecom platform deployment companies can eliminate the latency issues associated with content delivery. It enables them to deliver video to remote sites where immediate or timely reconfiguration is required via EMS or NMS. This translates into significant opex savings, company officials stated.

"The DL4360x addresses the complexity and latency issues that broadcasters, video service providers, and others in our industry traditionally face when routing video and Ethernet traffic," said Richard Dellacanonica, president of Artel Video Systems, in a statement.

"By routing native video and Ethernet traffic through a simple, reliable, low-latency, internal cross connect, users can instantaneously reconfigure a chassis to address new requirements, eliminating the need for truck rolls or onsite personnel for most day-to-day operations,” Dellacanonica added.

The DL4360x holds up to 12 DigiLink function modules. Each slot is capable of routing 10 videos, five Gig-Ethernet circuits, or any combination of both. Chassis monitoring and management are made simple via external status LEDs, a feature-rich HTTP interface, and SNMPv2 capabilities.

DL4360x consumes only 3RU of space and when fully loaded, it operates at less than 250W. The DL4360x is ideal for space and power constrained environments. The product is NEBS level 3 certified, so it delivers a reliable and cost-effective video routing solution for all kinds of video scenarios.
