Artel Video Systems Addresses Latency Issues within Telecom Platform Deployment

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Sometimes telecom platform deployment providers face serious latency issues while routing video and Ethernet traffic through their networks.

To help them address the latency issues associated with video and Ethernet traffic routing, Artel Video Systems, a provider of broadcast-quality video transport solutions,  recently debuted its DigiLink DL4360x video transport chassis, touted as the first video transport and processing chassis that can route video and Ethernet traffic in native format through a unique internal cross point.

The ability of the video transport solution to route native video and Ethernet traffic through a low-latency internal cross connect is extremely beneficial to the industry. Video companies can now instantaneously reconfigure a chassis to address new requirements, eliminating the need for truck rolls or onsite personnel for most day-to-day operations.

“The release of the new chassis along with our continued development of innovative DigiLink function modules demonstrates our continued commitment to creating the most cost-effective, state-of-the-art, video-centric transport and processing platform," said Richard Dellacanonica, president of Artel Video Systems, in a statement.

The DL4360x eliminates external cross connects while staying in native video or Ethernet format. It also streamlines the routing and rerouting of video and Ethernet traffic, reducing operational expenses and providing an ideal solution for remote sites where immediate or timely reconfiguration is required via EMS or NMS.

The video transport solution can hold up to 12 DigiLink function modules and each slot is capable of routing 10 video, five Gig-Ethernet circuits, or any combination of both.

Further, the DL4360x features an HTTP interface and SNMPv2 capabilities. And to make chassis monitoring and management more streamlined, the solution features external status LEDs. Consuming only 3RU of space and operating fully loaded at less than 250W, the DL4360x is ideal for space and power constrained environments.

The solution is NEBS level 3 certified, making it suitable for harsh broadcast and telecom platform deployments.
