NEI, a provider of application platforms and lifecycle support services for software developers, OEMs and service providers worldwide, announced it has integrated essential technology Kontron to develop a high-density frame with superior computing power and storage to serve the LTE (News - Alert) and mobile messaging markets.
Officials with NEI said that the new frame integrates 12 of the company's N-1500 R2 carrier-grade rack mount servers that support -48V DC power management and alarming, high density storage arrays; and standard Cisco (News - Alert) switches to create a solution that combines high performance, ruggedness, reliability and long life.
Company officials said that NEI piloted the integrated solution through NEBS Level 3 testing to achieve compliance at the frame level. The resulting solution reduces engineering overhead and accelerates customer's time to market, as it was developed using pre-qualified NEBS-tested components and designed from the ground-up to meet demanding telecommunications compliance and regulatory standards.
"The integration of advanced server technologies, such as those provided by Kontron (News - Alert), is absolutely vital to the wireless and mobile telecommunications market," said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing at NEI, in a statement.
Hudgins said that achieving NEBS certification for a high-density rack solution is considered a real breakthrough for carrier-class equipment.
Hudgins said that this market is about hitting the opportunity window while it's open, and NEI's solution design and quality-based integration control services enable large, brand-name telecommunications equipment providers to accelerate development schedules, meet customer requirements and more rapidly reach revenue.
Company officials said that NEI provides both rack- and frame-level design and integration services, including verification, staging, assembly, data and power cabling, testing and shipping -- with specific expertise in high-density quality solutions that maximize real-estate and reduce power consumption and thermal constraints.
NEI's full lifecycle management services, from design and integration of telco platforms and frames to global support and maintenance services, are geared to meet fast reaction opportunities where quality and delivery are critical factors.
