HHPC Solutions, a provider of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions, unveiled the launch of Desktops as a Service (DaaS) powered by Desktone. The new DaaS service is designed to meet the growing demand for virtual desktops accessible on any device. With this service, desktops can be provisioned on demand on devices like smartphones, tablets, Macs, laptops and PCs in both business and home settings.
Cloud-hosted virtual desktops are the best alternative to traditional virtual desktop infrastructure as they deliver more flexible and affordable virtual desktops without the added costs of hardware and software.
"DaaS makes virtual desktops easy and affordable for everyone," said Peter McKay, CEO, Desktone, in a statement. "On-site VDI has been slow to take off because it requires significant investments in time and resources.”
McKay further said, “By delivering desktops from the cloud, service providers like HHPC can provision end user desktops in just minutes, and can easily scale up or down as needed. This multi-tenancy makes DaaS a cost-effective alternative to traditional VDI that businesses and end users alike can benefit from."
HHPC's DaaS offering leverages the newly released Desktone virtual desktop software that supports all virtual desktop types from full virtual desktop infrastructure to shared environments. The service leverages Desktone software to provide a fully compliant Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows hosted virtual desktop at a very affordable price point.
The DaaS platform is simple to deploy and manage, making it easier for individuals and enterprise to quickly access their desktops through any device for a flat monthly fee.
"We're seeing significant interest in virtual desktops as people look to access their Windows programs and applications from multiple devices. We offer virtual desktops with no capital expenditure and no complexity," said Chantal Saake, president and CEO, HHPC, in a statement.
"Virtual desktops were previously out of reach for many individuals and organizations due to the costs and complexity in building and managing their own virtual desktop environment,” Saake added. “With Desktone's DaaS platform we're able to deliver enterprise quality hosted virtual Windows desktops to one or thousands of users. We evaluated traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) vendors but only Desktone was built for service providers like us."
In another related development in the industry, recently cloud computing provider Wyse Technology has announced that it now delivers powerful VDI-virtual desktop infrastructure for small and medium businesses with Citrix VDI-in-a-Box. The company’s entire portfolio of Citrix Ready and Citrix HDX Ready verified thin clients are now also verified for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box.
