Emulex (News - Alert) Corporation recently introduced its advanced performance management solution, OneCommand Vision 3.0, designed to address varying customer requirements by effectively enhancing storage I/O resources for both virtualized and cloud environments.

The Emulex OneCommand Vision 3.0 portfolio features the OneCommand Vision Professional, which offers increased scalability to manage an extensive number of application server endpoints within medium to large data center environments deploying multiple tiers of storage; the OneCommand Vision Essentials capable of supporting enhanced I/O management for up to 15 application servers, which is an ideal fit within large or small enterprise data centers that support specific business processes; and the OneCommand Vision FREE Edition, which allows administrators to quickly evaluate the I/O performance and availability of up to five business critical, SAN-attached application servers.

Benefits of the Emulex OneCommand Vision include the ability to eliminate I/O issues and Accelerate Application Performance by optimizing I/O resource performance management, as it proactively monitors storage performance and health metrics and provides Intelligent Alerts to address potential slowdowns and outages; delivery of end-to-end I/O Performance Assurance for data center and cloud environments, so IT administrators can automate the processes of monitoring, reporting and enforcement via industry-driven SLA standards; and Lowered Resolution Time for complex storage issues, designed to automate issue detection across the entire infrastructure and/or for a specific area within the environment effectively bringing down resolution time via Intelligent Alerting, dashboards and reports.

The solution also offers Advanced Storage Path Availability Management, essentially locking on to the same path availability as that of the application, thus supporting multipath configuration and storage protocol, operating system error handling faults, switch zoning, LUN masking, among other array-based faults.

Because the Emulex OneCommand Vision is a scalable software solution, it is capable of providing support for Microsoft Windows Server 2012, VMware vSphere ESX 5.1, as well as the existing support for Citrix Xen Server, IBM (News - Alert) AIX and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL), Oracle Solaris, Oracle KVM, as well as VMware ESX v4.1 and 5.0.

The company has also designed OneCommand Vision Training modules using the Emulex Experts program to ensure better understanding of I/O management and OneCommand Vision basics and the ways in which I/O performance can be improved.
