Polycom (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, has announced that the company donated a telemedicine solution to the National Intrepid Center of Excellence  or 'NICoE.'

Valued at approximately $500,000, the equipment will empower military medical professionals to promote the resilience, recovery and reintegration of warriors who have been suffering from psychological health issues and traumatic brain injuries.

This year, NICoE is going to introduce a 72,000-square-foot facility that will be dedicated to research, assessment and treatment of military service members and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury and psychological health issues.

Offering solutions capable of supporting a collaborative, telemedicine network to NICoE, Polycom is helping the organization in delivering enhanced care for patients, powering a range of telemedicine services including consultation and coordination, comprehensive evaluations, and coordinated research.

The new facility comprise of a Data Immersive Visualization Environment, an auditorium, a classroom and three intake and evaluation suites. The NICoE network will be powered by Polycom's video conferencing infrastructure, which will help the center in attracting a world-class network of researchers and providers seeking and sharing vital information to be used for training and educating clinical providers.

Apart from them, first responders, other Warriors, and family members will also benefit from the facility that aims at bringing together decision makers to recommend policy changes based on insights derived from clinical, educational and research activities.

Within the NICoE telemedicine network, Polycom will integrate its Polycom HDX 9000 Series in the DIVE and Auditorium. The system installed at the DIVE will help medical professionals to conduct telehealth consultations, while interdisciplinary clinical teams can coordinate and develop the best courses of care for patients. While the system in the Auditorium will enable in successful organization of workshops, training seminars, symposia and other events.

Back in January, Brekeke (News - Alert)Software, a developer of SIP telephony software for enterprises and service providers announced the confirmation of the interoperability between Polycom KIRK Wireless Server 300 or 'KWS300' with Polycom's full portfolio of KIRK handsets and Brekeke PBX (News - Alert).
