NeuLion Enters Partnership with The University of Oregon

By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

NeuLion (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of IPTV services that works with content partners to develop end-to-end solutions for multimedia IPTV services, has announced to enter a sports technology partnership with The University of Oregon Athletics. After this agreement that has been signed through the Sports Technology Partner Program of Oregon, it will be able to benefit from the enhanced digital media advances available to the sports industry. Oregon Ducks will leverage a number of emerging media platforms for mobile, iPad, game animation, Internet television and other IP-enabled devices like Blue Ray and HD TV so that its fans can get an advanced interactive experience.

Offering digital delivery of sports video content through its end-to-end sports media platform, NeuLion provides IPTV (News - Alert) solutions that are used by the National Hockey League, the National Football League, Major League Soccer and many other sports properties. The University of Oregon is a well known teaching and research institution, and its Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has been actively engaged in the collegiate sports marketplace for a long time.

As a result of the new partnership, Oregon will be able to benefit from a number of enhanced technological features, such as single encode delivery of video content to multiple technologies and devices, enhanced iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad application interfaces for exclusive live and on-demand video streaming, adaptive ‘High Definition’ or ‘HD’ technology, Internet TV Box for sports television viewing and NeuLion's ‘Live Game Video Editor’.

Additionally, NeuLion will improve workflows for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics staffers leveraging its advanced new media tools, and will strengthen fan interaction with Ducks' content through both online and mobile platforms. The tools like the Live Game Video Editor by NeuLion will improve content breadth and depth, and will also save valuable man hours.

According to Chris Wagner, Executive Vice President of NeuLion, Oregon has been a tremendous partner and has continued to recognize and benefit from company’s sports media technology. Wagner noted that by embracing NeuLion’s technology and services through its Sports Technology Partner Program, the University, through its Athletic Department, will be able to reach more fans and leverage the very latest in NeuLion digital media. NeuLion is making an investment in Oregon that it believes has high ROI, and the company welcomes the opportunity to work with other schools and organizations looking to do the same in growing their sports business, Wagner added.

In January 2010, NeuLion, Inc. entered a partnership with DISH Network L.L.C., a pay-TV provider, to distribute certain DISH Network international channels using NeuLion's IPTV service.
