Unified data storage appliances developer IceWeb announced that a national call center organization will deploy IceWEB's (News - Alert) Unified Data Storage Appliances across its mission-critical data center.
The IceWEB 6000 Unified Storage Appliances with the IceSTORM Operating System deliver high-speed performance using 15,000 RPM 6GB disk drives drive the client’s call center applications using Oracle (News - Alert) databases. The IceWEB 6000 Data Storage Appliances will use virtual servers running VMWare and Triple Parity RAID for maximum redundant protection and high availability. IceWEB declined to name the national call center operation, citing the sensitive nature of the client’s business. IceWeb appliances are targeted at cloud and virtual environments, the company said.
"Our customer is a very astute user of IT and was extremely attracted to IceWEB's robust performance, advanced capabilities and price point relative to expensive vendors," said Tom Kusiak, regional director of Sales for Wheat Systems Integration, IceWEB's channel partner in the transaction, in a company statement. "The value was clear. The ease of use and responsiveness of the system along with the strong sales support from IceWEB and Wheat convinced them to move in our direction. We are seeing this trend repeatedly among our customers and we anticipate a continuous stream of similar deals in the near future."
Based just outside Washington, D.C., IceWEB develops and manufactures, high performance unified data storage appliances with enterprise storage management capabilities for businesses of all sizes. Using thin provisioning, target deduplication and inline compression, IceWEB's unified storage arrays permit standardization, consolidation and optimized storage utilization for virtual and cloud environments. This often results in cost savings of up to 90 percent of storage costs. It also limits the amount of space required for power and cooling requirements and streamlines storage management, the company said.
"Today's announcement continues our streak of new customer wins in the mid-market this quarter," said Steven Toole, chief marketing officer at IceWEB, in the statement. "Selecting IceWEB among other storage vendors clearly echoes IceWEB's superiority in unified storage appliances and manageability not only for back end storage but for tier 1 storage running mission critical applications as well. We're confident that the market is ripe for IceWEB to continue answering needs in the mid market left unmet by the large, more expensive vendors."
