RingCube (News - Alert) Technologies, a provider of personalization solutions for virtual desktops, has launched vDesk v 4.0, an enterprise desktop virtualization solution.

vDesk v 4.0 is designed to assist organizations to expand their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) user base, enable faster and more efficient VDI rollouts, reduce VDI infrastructure costs, and increase VDI's return on investment.RingCube will introduce vDesk v4.0 at an industry event next week.

Now, vDesk v4.0 helps enterprises capture productivity and IT cost-savings by expanding organizations' VDI rollouts to a much wider population of employees,” Kamity added.

One of the challenges faced by VDIs is the inability to scale across an organization to its various types of employees. Organizations select to implement pooled VDI deployments to reduce storage and infrastructure costs. As a result, they forgo the ability to personalize users' desktops and negatively affecting user acceptance and adoption.RingCube's vDesk is a complementary offering to VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop that offers personalized user desktops without adding extra management overhead. It supports virtualizing the entire desktop, including department-level and user-installed applications.

“Personalization is required to achieve the operational and economic benefits touted by today's leading desktop virtualization vendors,” said Chris Wolf, Research VP, Gartner (News - Alert). The VDI rollout to a larger percentage of employees enables organizations to lower the overall cost of their VDI projects and improve user productivity. With vDesk v4.0, organizations can realize productivity and cost-saving benefits from their VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop investments.

RingCube vDesk Virtual Workspace Solution was the recipient of 2010 TMC (News - Alert) Labs’ Innovation Award for security and performance in desktop virtualization. The award was presented by TMC’s Customer Interaction Solutions magazine.
