Qualys Inc is one of the leading providers of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) IT security risk and compliance management solutions. At the ninth annual Qualys Security Conference (QSC) 2011 recently they announced a showcase of their new capabilities and important expansions to their QualysGuard security-as-a-service platform. This hosts in the cloud, Qualys' (News - Alert) IT security as well as compliance SaaS suite of applications.

The QualysGuard IT Security and Compliance Suite makes complete use of a powerful security-as-a-service platform as well as a context- and role-based user interface (UI) to deploy strong services. These include vulnerability management (VM), policy compliance (PC), and PCI (News - Alert) compliance. Also included is web application scanning (WAS) and malware detection. All of this through one unified web portal. Qualys will also showcase unveil cutting edge features for the QualysGuard suite with interactive dashboards as well as advanced capabilities. It promises to make things much easier for companies looking to safeguard IT assets and data from security threats.

In a release, Dan Klinger, Sr. Manager, Global Information (News - Alert) Security, The Hershey Company, says, "We have been a QualysGuard subscriber since 2004 and watched the solution evolve from a VM solution to an integrated suite of security and compliance offerings delivered via the cloud. Now we are using the full capabilities of the QualysGuard suite to detect vulnerabilities in our environment and effectively collect compliance data for our GRC initiatives. This solution is a game changer as it gives us comprehensive visibility from a central point."

Some of the new features that QualysGuard include are new dashboards that provide an interactive view of client security and compliance postures. Summaries are also possible. The export and import of policies is now easier with XML files. Patch reports will allow all administrators to immediately address issues that need action. Oracle (News - Alert) Patch (OPatch) Detections is an Oracle-supplied utility which will allow those using Oracle software to apply as well as rollback patches where needed.

Expansions will include an Amazon EC2 Virtual Scanner and New Asset Module with Tagging. This last will allow both static and dynamic tags to be applied to enterprise assets that are within QualysGuard. New Questionnaire and Workflow Module will also be included as well Enterprise Malware Detection Capabilities.
