As a manufacturer and developer of high performance SSD-related technologies, STEC Inc. needed to implement a 150-seat auditorium for use in training, presentations and corporate speaking events at their company headquarters in Santa Ana, Calif.
Because STEC’s requirements included high definition projectors and high quality screens, surround sound audio systems and a versatile, easy to use control platform based on the latest touch panel technologies, the company collaborated with virtualization provider Carousel Industries to create the high definition presentation environment that they needed, according to a recent case study.
When integrating unified communications powered capabilities such a audio and video conferencing, presence, Web conferencing and voice, both fixed and mobile, businesses need to carefully define what is needed, create a design that will meet those pre-defined requirements and then integrate the components that are needed.
Working with Carousel, the new room was fitted with wireless microphones, special systems for eliminating feedback and echo, custom lighting and power linkages at strategic room locations.
Working with Carousel Industries, STEC was able to design and implement a new HD multimedia A/V conference room, including the following UC functionalities:
- Dual HD drop down projectors, 120” SuperNova fixed mount screens and HDMI matrix switchers;
- High quality sound and speaker systems in room ceiling;
- Touch panel-driven custom control interface for “smart” podium
- iDevice integration, including support for iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and Apple TV
In addition to completing the room design and installation on time and on budget, STEC also expanded its ability to effectively engage employees and sales prospects.
The project, which was completed in the fall of 2011, is now a popular central location at STEC’s headquarters for events ranging from training sessions and important sales conferences to the company’s regular employee movie night. Company officials said that the new STEC headquarters auditorium is now a crucial communications hub for a company whose products help define the world of modern communications.
Following the successful implementation of the auditorium, STEC began working with Carousel Industries to explore the options for improving corporate A/V systems, as well as expanding their Polycom-driven international video teleconferencing system
