Digitalk Provides Voice Peering for Acmetel Wholesale and Retail Services
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Acmetel, a next-generation voice carrier operator, has announced that it has selected Digitalk as its preferred platform provider to support its international wholesale and retail services.
To meet its wholesale and retail service needs, Acmetel deployed the Digitalk SBC voice peering application, which is based on the Digitalk Session Border Controller (SBC). The company expects the application to help strengthen and grow its international wholesale business as part of an expansion strategy.
Acmetel has also outgrown its optimum capacity on its retail hosted partition. As a result, the company is moving the prepaid services to the Digitalk multiservice platform. The added benefits expected with this move include the consolidation of all management and support into one provider. In seeking to take greater control of service offerings, Acmetel selected Digitalk and its voice peering solution as it is designed to deliver a full suite of integrated operations and business management functionality.
This selection was specifically made to broaden the rating options for the company’s wholesale customers. At the same time, Acmetel was seeking to overcome its dependency on cumbersome hardware upgrades to achieve capacity and feature expansion. The voice peering solution from Digitalk is designed to offer a broad range of advanced routing options, which can enable operators to manage routes based on cost, quality and margin. This ensures traffic is routed without loss or within a minimum profit threshold.
Acmetel is also sure to enjoy the critical advantage of the flexible carrier interworking that is achieved through the SBC Media Server’s dynamic software-based transcoding. This capability ensures the company can significantly expand its carrier routing options without the need to deploy additional technologies.
Baleegh Afridi, Acmetel CEO explained in a statement: "We've worked hard to achieve rapid growth, and already operate on 2 million minutes per day business volume since starting up in 2008. We've achieved this by being resolute to our mission to provide the very best service, in quality and reliability. We felt that in a move to our own infrastructure the Digitalk platform offered the best fit with our services from the advanced capabilities to ensure we operate a lean business, and their commitment and ongoing support as we grow expand on our success."
