Avtex (News - Alert) enhanced its IT infrastructure capabilities when it completed the acquisition of the Contact Center and VoIP division of Sage Innovations, a reputed technology solutions provider and Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert) reseller.

In addition to acquiring a part of Sage's intellectual property, it also acquired some of its technical resources and regional Interactive Intelligence customer base, according to company officials.

Sage will maintain its current office location in Chesterfield and is expected to continue support to existing business lines.

Commenting on the acquisition, George Demou, president of Avtex, said in a press release, “The addition of Sage's superior product line, expert resources and loyal customer base is also a way for us to continue to build upon our already strong partnership with Interactive Intelligence."

Avtex was one of Interactive Intelligence's top North American partners in 2011, winning its prestigious Pace Setter, Contact Center Award, an Interactive Intelligence Platinum Elite Partner and also a Microsoft (News - Alert) Certified Gold Partner.

Paul Weber, vice president of sales at Interactive Intelligence spoke of the impact that the acquisition would have and said, "With this acquisition, Avtex adds valuable IT infrastructure capabilities that offer customers an even more complete contact center and unified communications solution."

Avtex has deep capabilities in contact center, UC, CRM, portals and collaboration, notification, infrastructure solutions and application development.

In other news, Avtex announced a new initiative called AvtexCares. The effort is designed to focus on creating sustained, long-term impact in our community by connecting three stakeholder groups, Avtex employees, Avtex customers, and the community in a way that benefits each one significantly more.

The endeavor, lead by Khai Tran, Vice President of Community and Corporate Development, will focus on working with the three stakeholder groups to identify opportunities and prioritize initiatives.
