The Voice Peering Fabric

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

The Voice Peering Fabric or “VPF,” a service of Stealth Communications (News - Alert), was launched in 2003 in a bid to provide “an economical traffic exchange environment.”

Through the voice electronic marketplace, telephony-related services can be exchanged between service providers and enterprises while avoiding the public Internet and any un-necessary delays and relays.

The distributed Layer 2 Ethernet network supports the exchange of VoIP traffic and focuses strictly on high security and quality levels.

VPF point of presence or “POP” locations include: New York City, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and London.

Members from government agencies as well as service providers and enterprises are choosing the VPF to buy and sell high quality, secure voice origination and termination services.

Other services available through the VPF marketplace include: SIP/H.323 origination and termination trunks, operator service, directory assistance & E911 routing and telco database services like 8XX, CNAM, LIDB and LNP.

Earlier this year, XO Communications (News - Alert) announced it interconnected with the VPF in a bid to take advantage of the fast growing VPF ENUM Registry.

'With our national IP network and VoIP infrastructure, XO can deliver VPF members' calls to any domestic location on the public switched telephone network through a single connection to our network,' said Ernie Ortega, president of carrier sales at XO Communications.
