GIPS Offering Video Chat Technology for iPhone Developers

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

San Francisco-based Global IP Solutions “GIPS,” announced today the availability of new video chat technology for iPhone developers.

With the offering, “GIPS VideoEngine Mobile,” iPhone (News - Alert) developers can incorporate video conferencing/video chat into their mobile applications.

According to company officials, iPhone developers can integrate real-time video chat or multi-point video conferencing into iPhone applications to resolve issues like delay, jitter and echo related to IP networks.

Joyce Kim, chief marketing officer at GIPS, said the offering gives iPhone application developers the ability to maximize the value of their application with real-time video communication that features high definition voice regardless of network conditions.

“GIPS VideoEngine allows application developers to support two-way video chat on a variety of IP devices,” said Ira Weinstein, analyst and partner at Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research.

Weinstein said that the addition of iPhone support to the GIPS stable of products allows solution providers and mobile carriers to provide videoconferencing, including one-way video and two-way synchronized audio, to an even larger audience.

A recent survey conducted by Research Now and sponsored by Global IP Solutions (News - Alert) revealed that video chat/conferencing is rapidly being adopted worldwide, for business and personal use.

Additionally, the survey noted that iPhone market share continues to grow rapidly with over three billion application downloads in nearly 80 countries.

Using their solution, company officials said application developers can build and deploy video chat applications that overcome typical mobile constraints, including packet loss, bandwidth constraints, background noise and lip synchronization.
