Amdocs (News - Alert) is taking to the cloud with a new unified communications solution, which combines messaging services, VoIP and video calling in a single app, letting service providers quickly launch services that can go toe-to-toe with over-the-top offerings.
The new solution can be accessed through a Web portal, or from apps for iOS and Android devices. It’s compatible with the GSMA’s (News - Alert) Rich Communications Services standard, not to mention various social networks, and brings all of the user’s social network and mobile communities into a single address book, making it easy to communicate with any of them.
If necessary, it can allow for the addition of advertising and premium features, helping users monetize the service. As it can be used for syndicated interoperability and offered to non-subscribers, this can be a useful way to earn a little back even when offered to brands outside the operator.
"Today's smartphone users are turning to a variety of services to communicate, often at the expense of the service provider," said Rebecca Prudhomme, Amdocs’ VP of product and solutions marketing. "Amdocs Unified Communications (News - Alert) is the first brandable, cloud-based solution, offering fast time to market, which allows service providers to leverage their customer relationships to build revenues through metered data packages, premium features and applications."
Given how OTT players tend to have a major lead and advantage in the mobile messaging, video and VoIP market, it can be hard for smaller service providers to compete. With the Amdocs Unified Communications solution, however, they can provide services capable of competing, and strengthen their customer relations.
It’s a great tool for service providers looking to strengthen their offerings and increase the loyalty of their customers.
