Sify (News - Alert) Technologies Corporation, a provider of triple play residential and business broadband services in India, has selected Squire Technologies’ SVI MGC solution to replace a legacy Cisco (News - Alert) PGW softswitch and to provide interconnection and routing between NGN IP and PSTN networks.
Squire Technologies’ SVIMGC Media Gateway Controller enables clients to interface their VoIP networks to SS7 PSTN based telephone networks allowing the rapid launch of VoIP services, NAS Modem Dial-Up, distributed networks etc. Using industry based standards – MGCP, MEGACO H.248, SIGTRAN, SIP, SIP-I, SIP-T and H.323, the Media Gateway (News - Alert) Controller allows clients to deploy SS7 on Media Gateways already in their existing networks, therefore providing excellent ROI.
“Voice remains a hugely important part of our innovative triple play bundles,” said Birendra Singh, head– voice technology operations at Sify. He added that the company sees outstanding growth in both domestic and international traffic, so it needed a solution that would meet current and future needs.
“Squire Technologies was able to replace our existing Cisco solution and provide us with the interconnection we need to service our customers,” added Singh.
Officials with Squire Technologies said that the SVI MGC solution has been deployed successfully and currently supports more than 10,000 concurrent calls in a fully redundant architecture, providing the quality of service (QoS) and call continuity needed to support Sify’s growing customer base.
As SVI MGC is compatible with other third party media gateways, Sify will be able to deploy additional transcoding capacity with gateways from Squire Technologies or other vendors.
“One of the key benefits of the SVI MGC is the ability to connect to and control a wide range of third party media gateway solutions,” said Zacchary Couldrick, regional sales manager at Squire Technologies. Couldrick noted that this delivers outstanding investment protection as existing assets can be maintained and ensures efficient capital management.
TMCnet in January highlighted that Squire Technologies SVI Media Gateway Controller (MGC) solution was selected by Neofone as a replacement for their existing Packet Gateway solution.
