Ipanema (News - Alert) Technologies, the industry leader of WAN Governance solutions and application centric VPN services, introduced its Ipanema Mobile Agent.
The newly launched Mobile Agent will now give enterprises full control and optimization of all users and all applications over their global networks. It is a software agent for Windows desktops and laptops that delivers the performance benefits of Ipanema’s Autonomic Network System to mobile and small office/home office users.
All the components of the system, with ANS (News - Alert), constantly cooperate following a “sense and respond" approach that dynamically adapts to network and traffic changes.
“Using Ipanema, IT managers now get full control of their extended WAN with WAN optimization as a service, with minimal TCO. Mobile workers and SOHO users benefit from fast and reliable applications, maximizing their productivity. For the first time, enterprises can holistically manage all users and all applications over their global networks, whether at home, as they roam on the road or in small branch offices,” said Reza Mahdavi, president of Ipanema Technologies, in a press release.
Significant advantages over traditional software WAN optimization controllers exist, including a broader set of capabilities, reduced equipment and support costs, cloud-ready design and a unified management platform are provided by IMA. Some of them include:
•Integrated features beyond application acceleration: By using compression and with limited protocol acceleration, existing solutions focus only on WAN optimization. IMA, in addition to “pure” WAN optimization, also provides visibility and control for all application flows and data transfers, including CIFS and backup; interactive flows such as VDI and Citrix; and real-time traffic such as UCS and videoconference, all in a unified manner
•Coordinated and optimized performance and at lower costs: Existing SoftWOCs lack the coordination capabilities required to meet the needs of users in multi-user branches, and the alternative of purchasing hardware WOCs is simply too expensive for most enterprises. With IMA, agents cooperate automatically to guarantee the required performance of critical applications for every user on the system, both within the same branch and anywhere else on the network, eliminating the cost and support of additional appliances in branch offices
•Designed for meshed and cloud-ready networks: For a point-to-point network architecture, traditional SoftWOCs are designed. IMA supports any-to-any communications, with no need to define flow destinations in advance. Ipanema’s autonomic system automatically learns and adapts to the most complex traffic patterns on a global basis – critical in an IT world moving to the cloud
•Centralized and automated management, regardless of user location: SoftWOCs usually either peer with dedicated central WOCs or require specialized management solutions. This fails to provide the unified control that IT managers require for their global networks. In contrast, IMA peers with any and all Ipanema devices according to the flow destination, eliminating the need to add dedicated appliances. ANS’s central platform provides full automation and a unified management approach. Global application performance can be established, measured and enforced for all users, whether mobile or appliance-based
In related news, Ipanema Technologies has announced that it has sealed a global service deal with NCR Corporation.
