Verizon Wireless (News - Alert), which claims to operate the nation’s largest 4G LTE network and one of the largest 3G networks has ensured that baseball fans attending the big game on July 10 as well as those attending related events, won’t miss a call or have trouble sending texts, pictures or video highlights due to a loss of wireless connectivity.
This is due to the fact that the wireless provider has deployed a Cell on Light Truck (COLT (News - Alert)) in the area, a temporary cell site that enables the company to increase its 4G LTE network capacity for voice and data transmissions during special events when increased network demand is expected.
Historically it is proven that wireless connectivity is in high demand during high profile sporting events as fans use their mobile devices to take, send and post photos and clips from the stadium, as well as to access the Web for scores and highlights from other games.
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE (News - Alert) customers should experience average data rates of five to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and two to five Mbps on the uplink. The ability to meet or exceed network demand, even on a short-term basis, is part of the company’s commitment to stay ahead of the growing need for Verizon Wireless’ voice and data services.
Since the company was formed in 2000, the wireless connectivity provider has invested more than $556 million on improvements to its network in Missouri.
Back in June, the company activated its new 4G LTE coverage in Conn. This private investment further expands 4G LTE coverage in the vicinity of Routes 42, 63 and 69 in the towns of Bethany and Prospect.
Within Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE service area, Verizon customers with 4G LTE-enabled devices can post status updates and photos, surf the Web, share music, and download files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks.
