AirTouch Communications, a provider of wireless connectivity solutions, recently revealed it has been tapped by UniCell Ghana to provide the company with 1,000 units of its X1500 wireless devices. This order marks the company’s first shipment of the wireless device to the African market.
AirTouch develops and markets patented telecommunications devices capable of converging voice, data, video, security, entertainment and other advanced communications services from various service providers on one, unified piece of hardware.
The X1500 wireless connectivity solution allows home and office users to receive voice, text (SMS), and data with no landlines and no computers.
"We expect Ghana to be the gateway to the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS). Under the terms of our agreement with our distribution partner UniCell, we collectively expect to sell our product to several mobile operators, including Airtel (News - Alert), Tigo, Glo and Vodafone,” said Hide Kanakubo, president and CEO of AirTouch, in a statement.
AirTouch wireless connectivity solutions combine cordless phone technology with up to 10 times more wireless signal amplification, while safeguarding against possible hazards of microwave radiation from cellular phones to sensitive human tissues.
The HomeConneX X1500 feeds a wireless signal throughout either a home or office and can interface with home security systems. Customers are no longer worried about poor signal quality or call dropping taking place on their mobile phone or having to implement high-speed broadband solutions that require cumbersome installations.
X1500 is similar to the product previously certified on the Verizon (News
- Alert) network and certified for use in Africa, according to company officials.
In a similar announcement, Novatel Wireless (News
- Alert), a provider of intelligent wireless connectivity solutions, revealed that its EnablerHS 3001, a machine-to-machine (M2M) CDMA2000 1X module, is now certified for use on the Verizon Wireless network.
