Wireless broadband provider Alvarion (News - Alert) has recently been selected by AirNet, a local ISP in Bulgaria, to deliver wireless connectivity to the Albena Resort area along the coast of the Black Sea in Bulgaria.

The ISP has selected Alvarion’s carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution to provide wireless connectivity indoors within the lobby areas and rooms at approximately 30 hotels, conference facilities and restaurants as well as outdoors including in large park areas, recreational facilities and along the beach front.

The Wi-Fi deployment which is based on Alvarion’s high performance two-way Beamforming Wi-Fi base stations, will stretch over 2 kilometers.

 “We selected Alvarion as our partner for this Wi-Fi deployment due to the unmatched coverage, capacity and quality of service their base stations provide”, said Peter Petrov, general manager of AirNet, in a statement. “We are very pleased with our choice which enabled us to easily provide access to thousands of users, and deliver the needed capacity over a large area both indoors and outdoors”.

The wireless connectivity service enables users to connect smartphones, tablets and notebooks to the Internet at a speed of 500 Kbps to two Mbps and enjoy applications such as e-mail, video, image transfer, social networking and Internet browsing. The service can be used by approximately 10,000 users daily.

“This deployment demonstrates again that our cutting-edge technology enables our partners to offer their customers an easy and cost-effective solution, addressing the need to deliver high-performance wireless connectivity,” added John Asher, general manager, EMEA, Alvarion.

Recently, TMCnet reported that NetX Internet, the primary communication and Internet access company for Marvel's "The Avengers," selected Alvarion to help deliver secure and seamless wireless broadband connectivity duging production of the film.

To ensure high quality, throughput and availability, NetX used Alvarion equipment to deliver the connectivity necessary to run vital divisions including production, filming, editing, visual effects, and accounting.
