Last week TMCnet reported that Rivermine announced former MRO Software (News - Alert) president and CEO, Chip Drapeau had been selected to its Board of Directors. With more than 25 years of technology leadership experience, Drapeau is sure to bring Rivermine (News - Alert) results. Rivermine is a provider of automated telecom expense management (TEM) solutions.

 

Drapeau joined MRO Software in 1982. An enterprise asset management company he held a variety of management and executive positions before being appointed the company’s CEO in 1998.

 

Before being named CEO of MRO Software, Drapeau held roles in the sales, support, and research and development functions of the company. As CEO, he led a highly profitable organization and set the company’s strategic and product direction.

 

Recently, TMCnet had the opportunity to chat with Chip Drapeau about his newly appointed position, our exchange is as follows:

 

 

I'm anxious to contribute in areas where my experience in the applications software market can be a helpful adjunct to the strong strategic leadership already in place at Rivermine.  Hopefully, another viewpoint and another set of eyes looking at a particular problem or opportunity will add value.

 

 

Experience.  For nearly 10 years as a public company CEO I navigated the enterprise software marketplace.  I think many of the lessons I learned first hand will be important data points in my discussions with Rivermine and the Board.

 

 

Actually, Rivermine reminds me of my early days at MRO Software.  Rivermine has a robust product targeted at a relatively new and growing market.  Rivermine products solve a real set of business problems within the enterprise, and they have quickly established themselves as a leading provider in the space.  I like that recipe:  solid products, real and growing market, competitive advantage and market leadership.  

 

 

I enjoy the challenge of creating and maintaining market leadership.  In our business, it takes a dedicated team where everyone is focused on the customer and the business problems we solve. I'm looking forward to playing my role on the Rivermine team to the best of my ability.  There is nothing like the thrill of getting it done right.

 

 

I recently finished up another Board of Director assignment at a terrific company in the Human Capital Management space and I'm looking forward to beginning my next assignment in earnest at Rivermine.
