Improve Your Business with Telecom Expense Management

By Jessica Kostek, TMCnet Channel Editor

The authoritative voice for the Telecom Expense Management industry, Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA (News - Alert)) has announced new findings based on a survey of its members on "The Health of TEM Market."

TEMIA was founded in 2007 to raise awareness and knowledge of the values and benefits of TEM solutions, improve the quality and value of TEM solutions through the development and promotion of industry standards, and industry knowledge among TEM providers, business partners, telecom service providers, and enterprise clients.

According to the survey 96 percent of TEMIA’s members’ business comes from the acquisition of new business, where the enterprise had no Telecom Expense Management (TEM) solution in place, and renewals of existing business. In addition only four percent of TEMIA’s members’ new sales come from business that was taken from a competitor.

The survey also shows a stronger than expected TEM market. TEMIA members reported that they are growing through sales of TEM solutions to new customers where members are seeing growth within their existing base of clients who are facing a broader range of challenges relating to fixed, mobile, and international communications expenses.

"At Rivermine, we are seeing the same trend. Companies are seeking unified global solutions for both wireline and wireless TEM," said TEMIA member Mark Logan, president and CEO, Rivermine (News - Alert). "The demand for international capabilities has increased substantially in the last year and a number of customers have turned to Rivermine due to our broad multi-lingual and multi-currency functionality as well as ability to provide local support through major partners."

Rivermine, a provider of both software and managed automated solutions, enable organizations to gain visibility into, and control over, their telecom spending. The company has claimed to have saved many Fortune 1000 companies and large government organizations millions of dollars per year.

According to TEMIA, the survey findings demonstrate an important trend that less business is taken from competitors’ customer attrition than previously thought highlighting the progress TEM firms have made to improve customer satisfaction.

“These findings align with ProfitLine’s (News - Alert) company focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence,” stated Andreas Schenck, chief executive officer of ProfitLine, a TEMIA member. “We place strong emphasis on our Six Sigma driven operational culture and provide incentives for employees to achieve customer satisfaction. We measure our processes daily and also conduct surveys to proactively measure customer satisfaction to ensure we are meeting our objectives.”

In today’s economy, enterprises are looking for assistance in order to keep their company better situated, and more of that help is being sought from TEM providers. According to TEMIA, the market for TEM solutions continues to grow as more organizations learn about the industry. TEM solutions can help enterprises improve supply chain management for telecom expenses and reduce expenses through optimizing inefficient processes.

Rivermine can save enterprises through its software, SaaS (News - Alert), and managed services by up to 20 to 70 percent of reduction in spend through telecom contract renegotiations, up to 10 to 40 percent of on-going reduction in overall telecom spend each year through automated bill auditing and inventory optimization and up to 50 percent of reduction in the headcount required to process services orders and invoices.
