AlwaysOn, a Wi-Fi provider in Southern Africa, has joined the iPass Open Mobile Exchange (iPass (News - Alert) OMX) to offer consumers a global Wi-Fi data roaming service that provides zero click access to over one million Wi-Fi hotspots globally as part of the iPass Mobile Network.

The AlwaysOn service allows users enjoy Wi-Fi roaming capabilities in South Africa and overseas in 110 countries throughout North America, Asia, and Europe allowing easy high speed Wi-Fi connections with a laptop, iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and Android-based devices.

iPass OMX is a telecom service provider Wi-Fi exchange that helps to increase mobile network capacity quickly and cost-effectively by providing carriers with access to commercial Wi-Fi network. Through a single interface, iPass connects over 140 Wi-Fi network operators with certified WISPr interoperability in 111 countries and territories worldwide. iPass is a member of the Wi-Fi Alliance (News - Alert) and a board member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance.

Recently, iPass announced that Affymetrix, a provider of life science analysis solutions for basic and clinical research, has selected the iPass Open Mobile service for global Wi-Fi connectivity for its workforce. iPass Open Mobile delivers a service for enterprises that securely and cost-effectively enables employees to be globally mobile from any device.
