Interop (News - Alert) Technologies recently announced that it will be offering its portfolio of wireless offerings to General Communication, Inc. (GCI), a mobile network operator based in Anchorage, AK. GCI currently uses Interop’s hosted solutions like Common Short Code (CSC) Gateway (News
- Alert) and CDMA Over-the-Air (OTA) provisioning systems.
GCI aims to further improve its wireless services by using Interop’s wireless solutions like Short Message Service Center (SMSC), Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC), Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Gateway, Messaging Personalization and Control (MPAC) offering, and CDMA Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, thereby extending revenue prospects.

GCI will be able to offer numerous messaging and provisioning services with Interop’s assistance, thereby offering flawless support to subscribers on GSM and CDMA networks. GCI’s shift to an LTE (News - Alert) network will also be ably supported by Interop’s offerings.

During the fourth quarter of 2012, a custom-designed hosted implementation method will be used by GCI to introduce the Interop offerings. As part of this implementation, the technology solutions, which will be administered by Interop, will be located at GCI’s network operations center. GCI will be able to use the extremely standardized, scalable Interop SMSC 4 Series for offering 4G messaging services instantaneously, thereby extending its customer base for messaging.
Huge volumes of multimedia messages can be supported by Interop MMSC in an affordable manner.
