Recent statistics from the Nokia (News
- Alert) Store have revealed a new trend: Filipinos are turning completely social. Thanks to the ever-expanding array of chat translation apps being introduced to the market, the local community is now able to leverage the full potential of social networking websites to stay connected and share information with anyone they desire.
According to the Nokia Store, local users have downloaded a large amount of chat translation apps in the past year, beating out other popular apps. Game applications also posted high on the list of the Nokia Store’s most downloaded apps for 2011.
“The number of downloads garnered by apps for social networking sites, chat, video chat and messenger applications reflects just how important it is for Filipino mobile users to be always online and connected with the people who matter most to them,” said Rhomel Marcojos, senior marketing manager of Nokia Philippines, in a statement.
According to the store’s findings, Philippine publishers have contributed to more than 45 million global application downloads last year . Making up a large majority of these downloads are the innovative chat translation applications Facebook (News - Alert) Chat and Chat for Facebook Pro. Facebook Chat allows you to catch up with friends easily even on-the-go, while Chat for Facebook Pro is the only application for chat available on Facebook for mobile phones from all carriers. In addition, this app shows all of a user’s friend’s profile pictures and sound notifications.
In addition, eBuddy (News - Alert) Mobile Messenger, which has achieved over 100 million downloads to date, is another popular download which allows users to chat on MSN, Facebook, Yahoo, GTalk, AIM, MySpace (News - Alert) and ICQ.
Dictionary and Translation Pro were also extremely popular in 2011, as users can leverage these applications to gain access to an extensive online English dictionary, thesaurus, and translation service that supports a wide set of languages including Hindi, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and many more.
Recently, a TMCnet report revealed four fantastic chat translation apps. According to the report, Jibbigo, Speech Trans, Google Translate and Word Lens are some of the best chat translation apps available today.
