Otsbo.com's Chat Translation Platform Proves Successful at Sundance Film Festival

By Jordan Eggers, Contributing Writer

Icons Stan Lee and Gene Simmons have teamed up this year for “Ortsbo Live and Global at the Sundance Film Festival”, an event that will let fans from around the world take part in a live Q&A. Intertainment Media used their real-time chat translation platform, Ortsbo.com, to give fans a chance to ask a variety of questions to the infamous KISS rocker and comic creator in their native language.

During the film festival, Stan Lee debuted his documentary titled, “With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story,” which interested fans were able to ask about as well. The live broadcast was streamed online with Ortsbo’s chat translation software, enabling users to view multi-lingual closed captioning in the broadcast language of their choice.

If a previous user already has a default language set then once they reached the Web broadcast page, the Language Captioning System automatically translated the chat.

At the event, Stan Lee was quoted as saying, “Comics have been translated into numerous other languages and it will be great to communicate with those readers directly. I haven’t ever been a part of something quite like this before, it’s going to be sensational!”

Ortsbo’s spokesperson Gene Simmons added, “Ortsbo is amazing technology, it breaks down the language barriers and allows us to chat with our families, business contacts and anyone we need to around the world without delay.”

Ortsbo’s real-time chat translation platform seamlessly integrates with popular media platforms, including Facebook (News - Alert), Google Talk, Twitter, MSN Live Messenger and more coming soon.

According to the company, accuracy is between 85 and 95 percent and simple to use in three easy steps:

  1. Select your chat service Choose a chat service available and once logged in, your friends list for that account will load.
  2. Select a language – The language options are located in the upper right hand corner of your friends list and all the user has to do is choose the translator language.
  3. Open a chat window The messages you send and receive will automatically be translated to the languages selected.

CEO of Intertainment Media and Ortsbo Inc. David Lucatch, later concluded in a release, “The Sundance Film Festival was a resounding success for Ortsbo as our partnership with Variety took on a whole new level as we helped create and archive exceptional content with the Festival’s leading celebrities along with our Language Captioning System.”

Currently, Ortsbo has 40 million month unique users in over 170 countries and territories. The real-time chat translation service is also currently available in over 50 languages.
