Cloud Communications Week in Review

Cloud Communications continue to dominate the tech scene this week, with more enterprises waking up to the realities of better communications at lower costs.

For example, with the demand for private access and multi-cloud environments growing significantly, companies are eager to implement easy-to-use, scalable and cost-effective cloud solutions. GoGrid, a specialist in cloud and open data services that includes purpose-built infrastructure for Big Data, has joined the Equinix (News - Alert) cloud exchange to accelerate cloud adoption and optimize performance. Equinix is an interconnection and data center company, and Equinix cloud exchange serves as an advanced interconnection solution that ensures seamless, on-demand and direct access to multiple clouds and networks. GoGrid will be using the Equinix cloud exchange to expand its market and deliver private connectivity to enterprise customers using a single interconnection solution.

Another area of cloud communications gaining in popularity is videoconferencing, which is becoming a preferred way to conduct meetings, training, seminars and conferences, without incurring additional travel costs or time away from the office. Recent advances in video conferencing technology have made it more appealing and cost-effective than ever to use; the advantage of using this tool is that it allows conveying vast more information than emails or telephone calls possibly can, reports TMCnet’s Daniel Brecht. With standard equipment available today (for example, proprietary endpoints with at least one video camera that allows participants at different sites to see one another) people can engage in business collaboration activities that would be impossible without video communication.
