Survey: SMB Cloud Adopters Discovering More Opportunities

While not all new technologies that come in the pipeline pan out, the ones that do introduce a level of efficiency in our personal and work life that makes us wonder how we managed to live without it prior to its arrival. People and businesses that use cloud technology by and large feel this way about it because of how it simplifies everything that has to do with IT. A new survey sponsored by FiberCloud says just as much regarding SMBs that have adopted cloud technology.

The cloud adoption survey was conducted from a pool of more than 400 business owners and decision makers of companies employing between 50 and 500 people who were early adopters of cloud technology. According to the survey, this group is eager to deploy more cloud solutions with more data, applications and IT infrastructure for the remainder of 2014.

Even though only 29 percent of SMBs as a whole have adopted cloud solutions, of the ones that use the technology, more than half have indicated they are pushing to migrate the majority of their business in the cloud by the end of the year, while one third said they'll be running 66 to 100 percent of their business in the cloud.

One of the greatest benefits for SMB's with cloud adoption is replacing aging IT infrastructure and access to state of the art technology that can be implemented quickly and scale on either direction at a moment's notice. The availability of this technology has introduced more opportunities for SMB's so they can readily compete without having to worry about the lack of resources.  

Cloud technology has given SMB's the ability to compete with much larger organizations while at the same time maneuvering with the agility their bigger counterparts are not able to achieve. It has transformed business by democratizing technology to virtually everyone who has access to broadband technology. With cloud, businesses can take more risks because the failures are not that costly and more experimentation can take place.

While the issue of security still prevails with cloud technology, the participants in the survey said the benefits far outweighed the risks, and today's cloud environment can be secured with the right provider.

We believe the cloud generates tremendous opportunity for our expanding network of MSP, VAR and IT reseller partners who already provide a variety of IT, networking and support services to SMBs.
