Compliance is very important in data centers – and it can be difficult to achieve because organizations often face demanding and complex regulations and compliance rules.

To assist businesses meet their compliance requirements, ViaWest's compliance group has made a governance, risk management and security offering which includes relevant policies, procedures and standards.

They address control specifications for ISO/IEC (News - Alert) 27000 series, NIST 800-53, ITIL 3.0, HIPAA Security Rule, Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA), Gramm-Leach-Bailey Act (GLBA) Interagency Guidelines, Payment Card Industry (PCI (News - Alert)) Data Security Standard v2.0, and Trust Services Principles and Criteria.

ViaWest also can fashion its solutions for those organizations which have compliance requirements that go beyond the typical offerings. It is tailor-made.

In addition, ViaWest gets independent auditor reports and certifications each year to ensure high standards for its in-house compliance team. These focus on the design and operating effectiveness of ViaWest’s operational controls. Because they are relevant to systems of internal control found in many organizations, ViaWest customers save money and time for not needing as much from their own auditors. It also provides them assurances on the information found in ViaWest data centers.

“These achievements demonstrate our commitment to processes and standards that enable us to maintain the governance and security controls our customers need to help meet their regulatory obligations,” ViaWest said in a recent statement. “By having a dedicated compliance department we believe we are uniquely qualified to provide high-quality services to our customers.”
