Many enterprises today are implementing cloud, or considering shifting to cloud, to gain the benefits of multi-tenant, hosted resources whether software, platforms or infrastructure.
Cloud data center solutions not only provide results for optimized physical infrastructures, but also enable organizations to be more responsive, improve operational efficiency and increase strategic relevance to their business. TMCnet was there this week to report on all the latest cloud data center news. Here are a few highlights:
CipherCloud, a reputable provider of cloud encryption solutions, has introduced the CipherCloud Connect AnyApp, which encrypts data that is being transported, in-use and at-rest for a good number of public and private cloud web applications without degrading their functionality.
With this latest addition to the CipherCloud Platform, administrators can specify what fields of a webpage they want encrypted and have their desire actualized without the use of any additional applications or client software requirements. This is in lieu with CipherCloud Platform’s vision of reducing encryption complexities by allowing quick deployment and management of encryption across multiple cloud applications via a single system. There are several reasons businesses are moving to a cloud data center over the traditional on-premise deployment approach. Cost is likely a key driver – the cost of the land, the labor to build the data center, and the utility bills for the cooling component of the traditional data center can far outweigh the benefits of using a traditional data center. These reasons alone are generally enough to push companies in the direction of the cloud data center.?
For example, having one cloud data center operation take on all of the business’s needs means there is no compatibility issues with the various components used to access the data. To read about other reasons for moving to a cloud data center, click here.
In other cloud data center news this week, StratoGen, a VMware hosting company with a worldwide client base and award-winning cloud platform, plans to open additional cloud data centers in New York and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Industry experts believe that the data centers allow StratoGen to position themselves as one of a select few cloud providers that offer a truly global reach.
Officials with StratoGen said the New York facility is scheduled to come online in October 2012, with Kuala Lumpur following before the end of the year.
