Next Generation Data (NGD) recently launched a dedicated co-location data hall at its Europe tier three plus carrier-neutral mega-data center near Newport, South Wales. NGD had stated sometime in 2011 that they had allocated $20 million to build seven additional data halls at NGD Europe.
Next Generation Data's Newport Data Center is one of Europe's largest and latest data centers. Offering tier three plus co-location, the Newport Data Center is highly customizable with each hall providing data center services. Ideally situated, NGD will support the growing need for co-location in Cardiff, Newport and throughout the Southwest. The data center has one of the best equipped co-location facilities in Europe, capable of housing over 19,000 racks within a highly secure data center environment.
NGD Europe is UK's first example of a truly world-class modern data center which offers a viable and extremely cost-effective high caliber location alternative for IT service providers and major organizations alike. The facility is also sufficiently far removed from the potential risks associated with many London area data centers such as exposure to flood, power outs and even terror attack. Its environmentally-friendly high level technology infrastructure has been designed to meet and exceed the ever increasing demand for more computing power.
Opened in early 2010 with BT as one of its first anchor tenants, the NGD Europe development is the largest data center in Europe, offering managed hosting and cloud computing providers exceptionally price competitive accommodation in a state-of-the-art secure tier three plus environment.
The new co-location hall will be opened on 15th October, 2012 to meet channel partner demand for a highly secure, scalable and price competitive service for housing single or multiple racks. Next Generation Data’s expansion strategy will ensure it continues to maximize the opportunity for providing secure space, power and cooling infrastructure to a growing list of corporate customers.
As well as allowing racks to be easily installed and operational within hours, the new hall also claims to offer an unprecedented supply of power for allowing high density services, the latest cooling and energy management systems, and a wide choice of on-site high bandwidth connectivity.
The availability of uninterrupted power within the modern data center is essential. NGD Wales has a private distribution network providing 9MVa directly to the site. With more than enough power for future high density platforms, co-locating in Wales is perfectly suited to Enterprise level data center consumers.
Steve Davis (News - Alert), NGD’s sales director, said NGD’s channel partner program, which was launched in May, had already created “strong demand” from resellers for secure, price-competitive colocation facilities. He said this had prompted an earlier than forecast opening of the new hall. He also mentioned that there would be a 24x7 technical support, service monitoring and private conference facilities available. Davis went on to add that as part of launch promotion program, resellers installing racks by 31st December will receive a three months rent-free period plus a free tablet PC with orders placed before 30th November.
Next Generation Data’s growing success demonstrates there is significant pent up demand for data centers outside of the traditional locations in London and the South East.
