Cbeyond Releases TotalCloud Data Center Managed Service, Offers SMBs an Ideal Cloud Environment

By Daniel Brecht, Contributing Writer

Cbeyond (News - Alert), an IT company founded in 1999, specializes in providing cloud services for approximately 60,000 small and mid-sized businesses (SMB). It is a publicly-traded company in NASDAQ with 2,000 U.S. employees and $485 million in revenue.

In order to provide its customers with all-important, secure and easy-to-manage cloud services, Cbeyond has announced the launch of TotalCloud Data Center managed service.

This new service will provide SMBs with dedicated virtual LANs and private firewalls. Businesses will be able to customize the offer to reflect any changes in their needs and requirements: storage needs or security requirements, in particular. Businesses will not be burden with having to manage and provide their own servers or applications, but they will be able to rely on Cbeyond to provide services that fit their particular infrastructure.

As the business grows, for example, Cbeyond can offer more memory, processing power, storage, different levels of security and services like load balancing.

Cbeyond will provide enough power to run typical business applications as well as provide the type of security required by clients: a private or more public approach. Backup services and 24/7 support are also part of the services provided.

Cbeyond is a Microsoft (News - Alert) Gold Certified Partner and its TotalCloud Data Center is built on MS Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V platform. In fact, Cbeyond was one of the first providers to offer customers the chance to beta test MS Windows server 2012 in early 2012.

Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 is a hypervisor-based server virtualization product that allows users to run a Windows client operating system on server-based virtual machines. It can help companies reduce costs and better utilize their servers, and make their managing simpler while allowing flexibility in storage and in the allocation of resources.

Ian Carlson, Microsoft Director of Product Marketing for Windows Server, said that thanks to basing its product on MS Windows Server 2012, Cbeyond was able to offer its customers “groundbreaking storage capabilities, advanced Hyper-V virtualization functionality (including network virtualization), and multi-server management.”
