Cyan recently announced that it will be partnering with Nissho Electronics to drive its software-defined metro network solution across Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Cyan specializes in multi-layer packet-optical transport platforms, software, and SaaS (News
- Alert) solutions.
In a statement, Cyan chairman and CEO Mark Floyd said that, "Nissho is an ideal partner for Cyan and we are pleased to be working with them in the Japanese market. They have a long history of technical leadership, being among the first to introduce ground-breaking new solutions to the market. This partnership is especially important given the expertise Nissho has with virtualization, a cloud data center concept that we see moving rapidly into the network."
Nissho which has substantial experience in deploying leading-edge networking and cloud computing solutions across Japan will help in further expanding Cyan's distribution network within the Asia Pacific region. The metro SDN solution from Cyan has been developed with an open service orchestration platform, SDN applications, and packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTPs) which makes it easy for businesses and carriers to quickly and efficiently develop more scalable metro and regional networks in a cost-effective manner.
Kimitaka Sato, Executive Officer, General Manager of Marketing Division, Business Operation & Development Segment with Nissho Electronics said that, "We are pleased to be able to add Cyan's revolutionary metro SDN solution to our portfolio. Clearly, we are seeing a new architecture rise up and displace router-based metro networks, one that is less expensive while exhibiting superior scaling and performance properties. Our partnership with Cyan will allow us to accelerate that architectural change in the Japanese market."
Under the terms of the agreement, Nissho will be responsible for the marketing, installation, and for providing services support for Cyan's metro SDN solution within cloud data center, as well as for business Ethernet, 4G wireless backhaul, broadband backhaul, and wholesale transport networks. Nissho will be supporting Cyan’s Z-Series family of P-OTPs, as well as its SDN orchestration platform and SDN applications in addition to its 3D network visualization software, and the complete Cyan portfolio of network planning, management, and verification applications.
