TMCnet Cloud Data Center Week in Review

By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Cloud Computing

Many enterprises today are implementing the cloud, or considering shifting to the cloud to gain the benefits of multi-tenant, hosted resources, whether it’s software, platforms or infrastructure.

Cloud data center solutions not only provide results for optimized physical infrastructures, but also enable organizations to be more responsive, improve operational efficiency and increase strategic relevance to their business.

TMCnet was there this week to report on all the latest cloud data center news. Here are a few highlights:

Cbeyond (News - Alert), an IT company founded in 1999, specializes in providing cloud services for approximately 60,000 small and mid-sized businesses (SMB). In order to provide its customers with all-important, secure and easy-to-manage cloud services, Cbeyond has announced the launch of TotalCloud Data Center managed service.

This new service will provide SMBs with dedicated virtual LANs and private firewalls. Businesses will be able to customize the offer to reflect any changes in their needs and requirements – storage needs or security requirements, in particular. Businesses will not be burden with having to manage and provide their own servers or applications, but they will be able to rely on Cbeyond to provide services that fit their particular infrastructure.

In other cloud data center news, Vigilent, a provider of energy management systems, announced the latest release of its cooling platform for data centers, telcos and buildings, incorporating enhanced cooling system control, Intelligent Analytics and trending analysis.

The Intelligent Analytics is designed to enhance the resiliency of a facility’s cooling infrastructure while optimizing it for maximum energy efficiency, minute by minute. The artificial intelligence-based technology contributes to risk mitigation, delivers even greater energy savings and adds extensive, automated reporting and visualization capabilities.

Finally this week, Cyan announced that it will be partnering with Nissho Electronics to drive its software-defined metro network solution across Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam. Cyan specializes in multi-layer packet-optical transport platforms, software and SaaS (News - Alert) solutions.

In a statement, Cyan chairman and CEO Mark Floyd said that, “Nissho is an ideal partner for Cyan and we are pleased to be working with them in the Japanese market. They have a long history of technical leadership, being among the first to introduce ground-breaking new solutions to the market. This partnership is especially important given the expertise Nissho has with virtualization, a cloud data center concept that we see moving rapidly into the network.”
