Panduit Partners with Rockwell Automation to Improve the Cloud Data Center

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Rockwell Automation (News - Alert) and Panduit recently pooled their resources to speed up the rate at which companies can adopt the Ethernet/IP network solutions. The goal of the new partnership is to give companies a safer and more reliable integrated solution for their cloud data center, which will provide a more enhanced network infrastructure.

Panduit develops and provides the world-class solutions that customers rely on for optimized physical infrastructure. Rockwell Automation is the largest company in the world that is dedicated to industrial automation. The solutions from Rockwell help their customers become more productive and more sustainable.

Together, according to this Control Design report, the companies provide a robust and proven solution that delivers extremely efficient and fail-safe hardware for network services and the cloud data center. The partnership will also help simplify the design of a network and simplify the integration that goes into creating a network, and it is also expected to help create cloud data center solutions that are not only cheaper to bring to market, but enable the organizations to do it with less risk.

The partnership is brand new, but the intention is to tackle implementing applications in the first phase of the operation. The two companies are going to follow best practices in working up the applications, and once those are established, the clients will be educated on how they work. The companies will also assist in launching the new architecture and provide an enhanced cloud data center.

An associate at Rockwell said that customers need a secure and robust Ethernet infrastructure, and with Panduit as a partner, the two companies can bring comprehensive logic to the architecture, which will leverage Ethernet/IP to bring the type of manageability and performance as well as the security that customers are expecting in today’s industrial networks.

Gregory Wilcox, a business development manager with Rockwell, told Control Design that the collaboration will form an ecosystem that provides collateral that will help their customers successfully design and deploy a secure and robust Ethernet/IP network infrastructure.

The customers who take on the Panduit/Rockwell solution will find success in network convergence, from an industrial network convergence with Ethernet industrial protocol or Ethernet/IP, and with the technology convergence between industrial and enterprise networks. At the same time, they will enjoy the “cultural and organizational convergence between the plant floor and control engineers as well as IT network engineers.”

Around 80 percent of the issues that IT personnel have with a network are directly related to the physical infrastructure. Panduit has the end solutions for the physical framework, which supports everything from the in-room to the in-field. The Panduit micro-data center is the alignment between Panduit’s infrastructure and Rockwell’s devices. Working together, the two bring the robust solution companies are seeking in a reliable cloud data center.
