Debriefing Software launched the Remote Backup Center as a special edition of Wizards Storage Portal for IBM (News - Alert) Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).

This should be an extremely profitable time, but data centers have many challenges in gaining market share profitably under fierce competition, with cheap storage and limited IT budgets putting pressure on prices. That’s where Wizards Storage Portal comes in.”

The new Remote Backup Center features Storage Resource Management (SRM) surveillance and analytical tools, which will help hosting companies to enhance backup and storage so that it becomes easy to track and bill customers for backup space usage.

Wizards Storage Portal and the Remote Backup Center plug-in will help hosting providers allow a data center to create a contract with end users, charge per gigabyte of usage, and then track and invoice them.

The data center monitors the performance and can set alerts when thresholds are breached or when problems occur.

Officials added that the Remote Backup Center provides access to the Wizards Storage Portal via a Web browser or via the WSP Mobile app on an iPhone (News - Alert) or iPad. Customers will enjoy direct access to backup status and performance metrics, as well as many other features.

The new addition augments the capabilities of the Wizards Storage Portal for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and has been already put to use at Time Network Management, a provider of IT services to Swedish industry customers.

“Being able to provide real-time, 24/7 surveillance of our customers’ systems means that we can ensure backup continuity wherever our customers are situated,” said Lennart Andersson, CEO at Time Network Management.

The Wizards Storage Portal and the Remote Backup Center plug-in for IBM TSM serves the need for an SRM tool optimally for Time Network Management. The solution helped the client enhance data hosting services.

“The Remote Backup Center’s automation features for analyzing customer traffic and backup while automating invoicing, in particular, free our resources to focus on providing more valuable services,” Andersson added. “Debriefing Software is very tuned into supporting our goals to grow our data hosting services.”

In June 2012, Debriefing Software announced that its enterprise customers can easily upgrade their Wizards for SVC. Wizards for SVC is a cloud-based monitoring and reporting solution for IBM Storwize V7000 and IBM SAN Volume Controller.
