Chico State, a California state university, has successfully built its hosting center on a cloud-based storage infrastructure using the $950,000 donation from NetApp, a provider of innovative storage and data management solutions. The new hosting center has now been enhanced to support classroom instruction, and training in business processes and enterprise systems technology to a large number of students.

Chico State and four other peer-hosting centers across the globe offer accounting and business concepts courses to students under the SAP (News - Alert) University Alliance. The educational institutions use state-of-the-art, real-world technology within the classrooms to provide students with an experience similar to other University Alliance (News - Alert) member university locations.

In other cloud data center news this week, Rockwell Automation (News - Alert), a company dedicated to industrial automation and information, recently expanded its pre-existing relationship with developer and provider of physical infrastructure solutions, Panduit. The two companies have now gone beyond their simple product referencing relationship to form a strategic alliance.

Together, Rockwell Automation and Panduit are aiming to help companies reduce risk, improve reliability and successfully implement EtherNet/IP solutions and architectures via integrated solutions. Specifically, the two companies will focus on providing optimized physical network infrastructure solutions, effective collaboration between automation and IT, as well as integrated solutions and services for customers worldwide.

Finally this week, Debriefing Software launched the Remote Backup Center as a special edition of Wizards Storage Portal for IBM (News - Alert) Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).

The new Remote Backup Center features Storage Resource Management (SRM) surveillance and analytical tools, which will help hosting companies to enhance backup and storage so that it becomes easy to track and bill customers for backup space usage.
