Brocade (News
- Alert), a major player in fabric networking solutions, has joined hands with Piston Cloud, the enterprise OpenStack company, to help ensure that joint customers can orchestrate and manage Brocade VCS fabric-based network infrastructure using Piston Enterprise OpenStack software.
The pact is aimed at delivering a flexible, resilient and scalable solution that will address the growing demands of private cloud infrastructures.
Thanks to this partnership, Brocade will be able to deliver pre-tested, and Piston Cloud certified, OpenStack-based solutions for private cloud, for maximum ease of deployment among customers.
Brocade VCS Fabric technology has the ability to transform OpenStack scalability by providing efficient service-level abstractions, powered by distributed fabric intelligence.
Additional benefits of this joint development include the ability to:-Scale and rapidly deploy private Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud environments; Seamlessly and dynamically allocate compute, storage and networking services and maximize use of the entire network while improving resilience with a self-healing fabric design among other things.
"The networking layer is an integral component to any cloud deployment and our work with Brocade highlights our joint commitment to an open standards-based approach," said Joshua McKenty, CEO and co-founder at Piston Cloud, in a statement.
"Our ongoing joint development activities with Brocade will result in additional integrated solutions that will deliver compelling business value to customers," said McKenty.
Piston Enterprise OpenStack is software that delivers a complete cloud management platform that comprises 100 percent of the core OpenStack services and gives enterprise IT professionals an easier way to deliver resources. A hands-free scale-out and live migration capability allows customers to increase capacity and upgrade services without downtime or reconfiguration.
"Brocade has supported OpenStack since 2011, and we continue to maintain our commitment to an open framework for management and orchestration of cloud environments," said Ken Ross, director of product management, Brocade.
Ross said that this partnership with Piston Cloud will benefit organizations that are transitioning to private clouds by minimizing integration effort and risk.
Brocade leads the industry in providing comprehensive network solutions that help the world’s leading organizations transition smoothly to a virtualized world where applications and information reside anywhere.
As a result, Brocade facilitates strategic business objectives such as consolidation, network convergence, virtualization, and cloud computing. Today, company claims that its solutions are used in over 90 percent of Global 1000 data centers as well as in enterprise LANs and the largest service provider networks.
Brocade cloud-optimized networks have proven their value across multiple industries, architectures, and applications. With a strong heritage in both data and storage networking, Brocade uniquely delivers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for building private, public, and hybrid clouds.
The Brocade vision for organizations that are considering cloud deployments is simple: Networks must be cloud-optimized at every critical point because they will define the application performance and the end-user experience within the cloud. With a strong heritage in both data and storage networking, Brocade uniquely delivers solutions that are capable of providing data center-class capabilities across the entire network.
The guiding principle in leading the transformation to the cloud is the Brocade One strategy, which is focused on enabling a smooth transition based on four key imperatives-Offering unmatched simplicity by removing architectural complexity and reducing operational and management costs; Providing a new level of network scalability, uptime, and performance through non-stop networking; Supporting current and future applications that run on the network through application optimization and delivering investment protection with best-in-class solutions through an open, multivendor network architecture.
