TMCnet Cloud Data Center Week in Review

Cloud data center solutions not only provide results for optimized physical infrastructures, but also enable organizations to be more responsive, improve operational efficiency and increase strategic relevance to their business. TMCnet was there this week to report on all the latest cloud data center news. Here are a few highlights:


A recent acquisition is launching Panduit from its standing as a network cabling and communications company to a powerful enterprise solutions provider. Panduit had only recently made the transition to Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), but is now poised to become a world leader based on its success with cloud data center concepts.

From telecommunications to power monitoring, the company is evolving the cloud data center, according to a DataCeterDynamics report. With its recent purchase of United Technologies, Panduit has big plans to integrate beyond IBM (News - Alert) (Tivoli or HP OpenView and shoot for the upper level managers. In other cloud data center news, Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver cloud performance and data protection solutions to enterprise customers. November 27-29 in Las Vegas, Riverbed will showcase its portfolio of cloud performance solutions at Amazon Web Services' (News - Alert) first global customer and partner conference, re:Invent.

Riverbed products available in the AWS include Cloud Steelhead WAN optimization, Whitewater cloud storage gateway, Stingray Traffic Manager, Stingray Aptimizer and Stingray Application Firewall. To read more about the partnership, click here.

Finally this week, EVault and Cequel Data Centers have become partners to provide data protection and confidentiality to its clients, TMCnet reported. Under this partnership, Cequel Data Centers has joined the EVault Partner Program and will promote and sell EVault’s cloud-connected backup and recovery services at its locations across the United States.

This is a win-win deal for both companies. Cequel Data Centers owns Dallas, Texas-based Colo4; Perimeter Technology (News - Alert) in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma; and TierPoint in Spokane, Washington.
