The annual data center symposium held in September 2012, hosted by CXtec and TERACAI, gave IT executives an opportunity to gain insight about current and upcoming trends about best data center practices. Professionals from the commercial, healthcare, education and financial sectors attended the two-day event and provided feedback.
CABLExpress, which has been guaranteeing its customers the quality that their data centers demand, compiled the feedback from executives and released the findings in its 2012 Data Center Executive survey.
According to the survey results, IT executives considered business continuity, disaster recovery and maximizing uptime as top priorities, while other concerns such as capital and operational expenses, security and compliance, ranked lower.
"It is important to determine what the priorities are so we can evaluate and provide the best products for our customers," said Peter Belyea, president of CXtec and TERACAI. Both these companies are certified resellers of CABLExpress products.
The survey also indicated that a large percentage of the attendees were contemplating some sort of converged data center fabric and more than 50 percent were planning to implement one within the next two years.
Interestingly, the results also revealed that a majority of the attendees didn’t design data centers in accordance with the Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers, or TIA (News - Alert)-942, which supports the use of structured cabling for data centers. This meant that there was a lot of work to be done on that front.
Belyea observed that structured cabling was ideal to increase data center efficiency, especially today when companies struggle with “shrinking budgets and demands of increased information flow.”
For more than three decades, CABLExpress has manufactured high-performance connectivity products that save space and installation time while future-proofing a data center's infrastructure.
