Cloud IT and all its permutations was once again in the headlines during the second week in May; here are some of the stories worth a second look.

To start, it was reported that digitalization and the cloud are poised to disrupt the entire technology sector, and some giant players are being pushed to change the way they do business and deliver and receive services. Legacy networks and solutions simply can’t keep pace with the furious amount of data and services in play today.  As a result, digitalization is becoming a necessity. TMC’s (News - Alert) Laura Stotler reports that according to a recent article, the digital revolution will have far reaching consequences, impacting companies like Oracle, IBM, CA (News - Alert), Amazon and Microsoft. That said, every enterprise IT company is set to face the challenges and rewards of digitalization, and those without a game plan in place are going to need to scramble and play catch-up if they want to remain viable and competitive. Full details on the story start HERE.

In other news, when users think of cloud computing, they may associate it with data being located in a remote server, or they may consider its allowance of remote access to software or databases. Although those elements come with adoption of the cloud, it also comes with something arguably more important: a changing face of data security. A recent article at Entrepreneur.com commented on the big shift from traditional to cloud computing. Go HERE to get the full story.

It’s a given that everyone wants to protect cloud-based operations. While some such operations will have protective measures built in, not all of these will, particularly for those managing their own cloud systems. Some cloud tools will even work to protect against things like shadow IT, where employees run their own IT operations without sanction or formal network inclusion. Computer Business Review recently took a look at some of the best tools around for cyber security. Go HERE for all the inside insights, or HERE for even more Cloud IT stories.
