The cloud, increasingly, is a desirable property. With video conferencing services, storage options and a host of other tools routed through this new platform, it's easy to see how managing such a proposition could be like managing a herd of cats. That's a point IndependenceIT (News - Alert) wants to help improve on, and recently brought its Adaptive Cloud Management Platform, CMP+, into general availability to give IT departments, independent software vendors (ISVs) and service providers alike new options in offering services.

With CMP+, such users get a better ability to offer some of the latest tools, like cloud workspaces, app workloads and software-defined data centers (SDDCs) by allowing for public or private—or even a hybrid of both—cloud-based servers to be offered. That means more options for the users, and a better solution that more closely matches needs on the ground, not just what's being offered at the service provider level. In fact, administrators can not just bring out servers, but also improve network availability, accessibility and performance thanks to CMP+, and do so in a fashion that takes less overall management and thus lowers costs as well.

IndependenceIT isn't just releasing a new program into a vacuum, either; it's changed its partner program in conjunction with this new release to help drive interest and push up sales numbers. The new partner program allows partners to deploy as many SDDCs as are needed, and all for a maximum licensing fee of $100 per month per SDDC. That includes end-user licensing for up to 15 end users or 50 virtual machines.

A recent report from IDC (News - Alert) even provided some extra fuel for the CMP+ fire, noting that CMP+ “serve(s) to even the playing field between the large IaaS suppliers and the companies that engage their services for VCC deployments.” The report further noted that “with the IndependenceIT solution the tasks to initially set up a Virtual Client Computing deployment on a given cloud or migrate an existing deployment to another provider are simplified and automated.”

IDC may not have intended to endorse CMP+, but with that kind of a pronouncement going out it's likely to get a lot of potential users paying closer attention. Already CMP+ makes a good value proposition, allowing better access to more services in a package that might be best described as “Improved Customer Experience in a Box (News - Alert).” Throw in the IDC report and it wouldn't be surprising to see a run on this product, especially with the improved partner program making it even easier to sell the service to begin with.

We're getting a clear look at how to provide a great value proposition with IndependenceIT's CMP+, and deriving actionable lessons here shouldn't be hard. There are certainly plenty of these on hand, and if this product is any kind of success a rush of imitators should be following.
