NetGen Communications, a developer of wireless private branch exchanges and access gateways, has announced the beginning of its marketing partnership with New Rock Technologies, a similar company that manufactures its own voice-over-IP (VoIP) gateways and IP-based private branch exchanges.

Together, the pair has created the YoubiquITy cloud-based infrastructure that allows enterprise customers to manage their NetGen Communications hosted networks and provision new devices in the network. YoubiquITy comes standard with purchases of NetGen’s Smart ATA telephone adapter, MX-series VoIP gateway and its wireless branch exchange. The new product release is meant to have the capability to manage that hosted software and NetGen hardware as well as New Rock hardware.

Cliff Schornak, the chief technology officer at NetGen, commented on the release.

“This remote-management facility gives the channel partner and ITSPs the infrastructure needed to move telephony deployments to a managed-service business model,” Schornak began.

“YoubiquITy allows our customers to provision, monitor with analysis, debug, and defeat NAT issues,” he continued.

The New Rock products that will be available to NetGen customers include its analog telephone adapter (ATA), gateways, private branch exchanges and session border controllers. This wide range of devices can suit a variety of enterprise communications needs – everything from their ability to continue using analog phones on a digital network to managing all types of traffic that flow in and out of their local or wide area networks.

That range of possible uses also plays into the importance of products like YoubiquITy because of their ability to control all facets of communication within a company. Clients may use many New Rock and NetGen products in single and multiple offices, so it can be a significant help to IT administrators to have a management application that can address all the equipment under their view.

Perhaps more important, however, is the REST API that comes with the NetGen private branch exchanges. Schornak noted that the API gives developers the chance to build their own applications that interface directly with their hosted networks. The applications can attach to the automatic updating feature of the PBX (News - Alert) and its ability to connect to multiple sites without excessive configuration.

NetGen’s and New Rock’s joint news release indicated that YoubiquITY is now available with for commercial use. It will be on display next month at a NetGen booth in a prominent industry convention.
