September 17, 2016
Happy Saturday! This week in Cloud IT saw a variety of topics covered. Whether you’re interested in the latest webinars and their takeaways or the future of the cloud storage market, there’s something for you. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at this week’s happenings.
This week in Cloud IT saw coverage of an interesting webinar titled “The State of the Cloud in 2016.” At the beginning of the week, TMC’s Paula Bernier (News - Alert), also moderator of the webinar, shared a sneak peek into what the webinar would be dealing with. Essentially, listeners get a look into where the cloud is now, where it will be going, and how businesses should handle it.
After the webinar was recorded, she then went on to share her thoughts on the event. Paul Timmerman, CTO and senior vice president of business development for technology infrastructure solutions provider Rolta AdvizeX, provided some interesting insight during the webinar. For example, he talked about a variety of aspects of the cloud as it relates to enterprises and other businesses. He also discussed how he’s seen huge uptake for the cloud relative to big data applications including search, storage, real-time analytics and visualization. You can find more of his thoughts along with information on how to access the on demand webinar HERE.
Speaking of the state of the cloud, other reports also suggest that it’s only going to go up from here. Research and Markets released a study that forecasts that the cloud storage market is expected to grow from $23.76 billion in 2016 to $74.94 billion in 2021. This level of growth in just five years would be a CAGR of 25.8 percent. The cloud storage gateway solution is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the growth period, while primary storage is projected to have the largest market size in 2016 in the cloud storage market. There are several more predictions to be found in the report; you can read about them HERE.
Has your business ever moved buildings? If so, you likely know how difficult it can be to move your phone systems. No one wants to deal with changing phone numbers. Unfortunately, it’s an issue that a lot of companies deal with. Well, Paula Bernier has some valuable information on how businesses can keep their existing numbers. She also compares the effectiveness of on-premises PBX (News - Alert) and other phone systems like cloud-based on-premises or VoIP ones, hosted PBXs and Skype for Business solutions. You can find out more HERE.
While some diverse topics have been highlighted here, that’s certainly not all that went on this week. Be sure to head to the Cloud IT homepage for all the updates, and come back next week for the latest insights. Have a great weekend!
