Ingram Micro (News - Alert), as part of the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program, has announced the availability of Microsoft Azure in its cloud services repository, Cloud Services Marketplace.

Ingram has used its Marketplace to help businesses find and install a range of cloud-based applications in various countries across the world. Azure is now available to enterprises in India that wish to use their own cloud infrastructure, potentially alongside other Microsoft (News - Alert) products. In this way, Ingram has used the cloud to offer its clients their own method of building and deploying cloud-based apps for their own use and resale.

In fact, said Jaishankar Krishnan, the senior vice president and CEO of Ingram Micro, it is his company’s own resellers that will be responsible for connecting with end users who may wish to begin accessing Azure through the Ingram Marketplace.

“We are pleased to enhance the Ingram Micro Ecosystem of Cloud and differentiate our Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider offering with the addition of Azure to our broad portfolio of cloud solutions,” Krishnan said. “By automating the delivery of Azure and making available the necessary resources and tools for transformation, our reseller partners have the capability to quickly build a successful Azure practice and deliver greater value to their customers.”

The ecosystem Krishnan references consists of the members of the Ingram community who use applications from its marketplace. Ingram has indicated that it wishes to help that community with all the issues it has regarding the choice, installation, and maintenance of cloud-based products. Ingram partners, too, play a strong role here.

TMC wrote earlier this year about Ingram’s partnership with Fonality (News - Alert), a cloud-based communications service provider. That connection and this present partnership with Microsoft shows the beginning of Ingram’s depth, which also offers applications that seek to improve business operational processes and make their business models more mobile. Cloud Services Marketplace has won awards for its capability, most recently in North America for a similar provision of Azure, and will surely continue to gain attention as it tows Microsoft products to yet more edges of the world.
