New iPhone, iPod Touch App Turns Device into a Credit Card Processor

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

The iPhone from Apple reportedly can morph into a credit card processing device thanks to an impressive new little application called “ProcessAway.”

With ProcessAway, the iPhone (News - Alert) can now be used as a mobile credit card processing device. When Apple launched the iPhone, the company likely had no idea that the device would be releasing about 5 million mobile credit card terminals into the hands of business owners.

ProcessAway was developed by Rapadev, LLC. The company has customized the software for an Apple (News - Alert) iPhone or iPod Touch and works over any available network connection. Now, transactions can be processed at places such as conventions, street fairs, antique shows and also by business owners who are performing mobile detailing, on-site consultation or construction. With the addition of the new ProcessAway software, the list is now endless on who can benefit by offering the convenience of accepting credit cards on the spot and the confidence of getting customers an immediate authorization for a credit card payment.

The app’s software works effectively to perform captures, authorizations, voids and credits. It makes use of multiple database tables for recording transactions and repeating sale information, such as order, shipping, and customer info. There is also an option available where a gratuity can be added to the final charge.

Randy Palermo of Rapadev said that since the launch of ProcessAway last month, there has been a tremendous amount of interest for versions that operate with other gateways. It is reported that the Company is currently expanding its line to accommodate these requests as the current version of ProcessAway works only with the Authorize.net gateway.

The ProcessAway software for Authorize.net is available at the Apple AppStore for $19.99.

“We realize there is a large number of gateways and resellers that can benefit by offering iPhone credit card processing,” Palermo said. “We hope ProcessAway can fulfill this need, and welcome contact from interested parties wanting to adapt the software for specific gateways.”
